About The Lactation Consultant
Nekisha (Nikki ) Killings is a Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC, RLC) with several years of experience in breastfeeding counseling and education.
A mother of three, she fell into her passion for supporting parents and babies through her own breastfeeding challenges with her first baby. She quickly came to realize how having informed, caring support throughout one's journey can make all the difference between reaching breastfeeding goals and never coming close. Nikki found her life's work through the experience of having a knowledgeable lactation consultant who turned her breastfeeding experience around. She is proud to dedicate her life to paying it forward by extending that same support to new families daily.
Nikki began her career first as a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC), then soon became accredited as a La Leche League Leader - where she spent years helping breastfeeding dyads in both group and one-on-one settings. While pursuing her Master of Public Health degree, she completed research projects in areas such as The Global Environmental Impacts of Not Breastfeeding, and How Ethnotheories Impact Mothers' Breastfeeding Decisions Across Cultures, all while being a military spouse and full time mother. Nikki continues to perform research, write, and speak on the topics of Breastfeeding Equity, Culturally Appropriate and Humble Care, Historical Trauma and How it Impacts Breastfeeding, and Breastfeeding Practice for the Mobile Clinician.
Most recently, Nikki became accredited as an IBCLC, enabling her to provide a greater level of clinical support to her clients in addition to her mother-to-mother support expertise. Nikki is a member of the United States Lactation Consultants Association, the National Association of Peer and Professional Lactation Supporters of Color, and is currently a delegate to the United States Breastfeeding Committee. She is ready and willing to help you meet your breastfeeding goals today!
